Preparing for your newborn's arrival is an thrilling time! As you consider capturing those precious early moments, you likely have questions about the photography process. In this post, I'll answer some frequently asked questions about newborn photo sessions, providing you with valuable insights and practical tips. Whether you're a first-time parent or welcoming another addition, this guide will help you prepare for a stress-free and unforgettable newborn photography experience."

  1. WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR NEWBORN PHOTOS?

"For the most adorable and serene newborn photos, we recommend scheduling your session within two weeks of your baby's arrival. This brief window allows us to capture the tiny details that change so rapidly. Plus, let's share a little photographer's secret: newborns are often sleepiest during these first two weeks, making for a more relaxed and efficient photo session for all!"

  1. WHAT IF MY BABY IS OLDER THAN 2 WEEKS OLD, CAN I STILL BOOK NEWBORN PHOTOS?

Yes! Even if your baby is past the two week marker, we can still capture some beautiful images of your little one. This just means baby might be a bit more alert during the session, and we might opt to do more swaddled/wrapped poses. I have had great success with photographing newborns who were even 4 and 5 weeks old. However, please keep in mind that the older baby is, the more limited those squishy poses will be.

  1. DO YOU OFFER ANY TYPE OF PAYMENT PLAN OPTIONS?

Absolutely! I believe every Mother deserves to have beautiful images captured of the new little life they've created. That's why, I'm more than happy to discuss a hassle free payment plan option that works best for you. Let's chat!

  1. HOW LONG DOES A NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION TAKE?

You can expect to be in my studio anywhere from 2 to 4 hours, depending on your baby's needs.

I like to get the family/sibling photos done and out of the way at the beginning of the session. (If you are able to have a family member pick the littles ones up once that portion of the shoot is completed, then we can concentrate on just baby while its more quiet in the studio.

If you are not able to do so, please be sure to bring along some drinks, snacks, and whichever electronic device they may use to occupy their time while in the studio.

I work at your baby's pace, allowing time for feeding, changing and comforting as needed. It's important to remember that newborn are the boss during these sessions, and I will take all the time necessary to ensure they are comfortable and content. I will only ever take a maximum of one newborn session per day, so there is no need to get stressed about time. I value these moments, and want to get the best photos of your baby.

  1. CAN SIBLINGS AND/OR PETS BE INCLUDED IN THE SESSION?

Absolutely! I love including siblings and pets in newborn photography sessions. it's a great way to capture the bond between siblings and the love a new baby brings to the family. Just be sure to let me know in advance if you would like to include siblings/ pets during the session and I will be sure to allow adequate time to accommodate.

  1. HOW DO YOU ENSURE A NEWBORNS SAFETY DURING THE SESSION?

Safety is my top priority during newborn photography sessions. I have been trained in newborn posing and handling, and follow all safety guidelines recommended by professional organizations. All props and poses are carefully chosen and set up to ensure your baby's safety at all times.

  1. CAN I BRING MY OWN PROPS OR OUTFITS FOR THE SESSION?

Yes! I encourage my clients to bring any props or outfits they would like to include in the session. This could include family heirlooms, special blankets or outfits, or anything else that has special meaning to you. Please let me know in advance of any special items you would like to include during your session, and I will be sure to allow extra time to incorporate them into the session.

  1. DO YOU PROVIDE OUTFITS FOR BABY?

Yes! I have many adorable outfits to choose from. I also have cute headbands, wraps, bonnets, and everything else needed to complete a desired look for your photoshoot.

  1. WHAT IF MY BABY CRIES A LOT DURING THE SESSION?

I get asked this question quite a bit. Not to worry though. Once you have booked your appointment date, you will be sent some prep info, for you to follow before your arrival. If you follow all of the listed information, it should help us have a smooth photoshoot with a happy, content, and very sleepy little baby. :)

  1. WHAT TEMPERATURE IS YOUR STUDIO KEPT AT?

While photographing newborns, I like to keep the studio in between a warm and cozy 75 - 80 degrees. That being said, please be sure to dress accordingly!
